About the event
Black women have played a foundational role in shaping American democracy; from organizing grassroots movements to holding elected office at local, state and national levels. According to the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University, Black women are one of the fastest-growing groups of elected officials in the United States, yet remain underrepresented relative to their share of the population.
